The Excellence in Regional Transportation Awards, a program of NADO’s RPO America and the NADO Research Foundation’s Center for Transportation Advancement and Regional Development, recognizes noteworthy projects and practices in rural and small metropolitan transportation planning.

All NADO members are encouraged to submit online applications for projects that relate to any aspect of regional transportation planning in rural and small metropolitan areas. This may include such subjects as:

  • Transportation and economic development
  • Local elected official consultation
  • Statewide advocacy
  • Intermodal transportation
  • Transit projects
  • Transportation and the environment
  • Safety
  • Technology applications
  • Bicycle/pedestrian planning
  • Transportation and land use
  • RPO-MPO coordination
  • Long-range planning
  • Byways
  • And many other topics

Award winners will be honored at the Excellence in Regional Transportation Awards and Exhibitor Showcase, a special reception that will take place during the National Rural Transportation Peer Learning Conference, August 17 - 19 in Duluth, Minnesota.

The roundtable reception provides a great opportunity to network with peers and learn about new practices that can be replicated in other regions. Winning projects are also highlighted on www.RuralTransportation.org and may be featured in future NADO and NADO Research Foundation events and publications.

Congratulations to the award-winning projects in 2007 (PDF).
