On these pages, a brief description of rural transportation planning organizations (RPOs) is available for the almost 30 states that use RPOs or similar organizations to conduct regional transportation planning in non-metropolitan areas. Each page contains sample work programs, contracts between state departments of transportation and RPOs, and other documents to serve as a resource for regional organizations just beginning their involvement in rural transportation planning as well as more established RPOs.
