Through its award programs, NADO recognizes the efforts of regional planning and economic development organizations that have demonstrated innovative approaches to regional economic and community development.

Award winners will be showcased in a special reception during the National Rural Transportation Conference (April 24 - 26, 2013, Greenville, SC). Winners will also receive a press release and photo with NADO leadership (taken during the conference) to distribute to local partners and media. The projects are profiled in a special report, and some winning projects are highlighted in more depth in subsequent NADO conference panels and publications.
NADO's Innovation Award honors projects in a variety of regional development program areas, while the Excellence in Regional Transportation Award, a program of NADO’s RPO America and the NADO Research Foundation’s Center for Transportation Advancement and Regional Development, recognizes noteworthy projects and practices in rural and small metropolitan transportation planning, programming and service delivery.
